Happiness! Have you noticed that “happiness” seems to be one of the biggest buzzwords of our time. The big question is, “Can we choose happiness? Or does it choose us?”
Abraham Lincoln once stated “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” So, according to Honest Abe, happiness is a choice. Many positive psychologists of our day would agree.
We all have times in our lives when happiness comes easy, simply because we are, for that moment in time, enjoying optimal circumstances. But what about those times of challenge and difficulties, those times that come to all of us, at one point or another? Is it possible to choose to be happy, even when you feel that the world is crashing in on you? The answer is (with a little practice, patience and perseverance) YES! Here’s why…
True happiness is not the absence of opposition. Let’s be real, everyone has challenges. True happiness is knowing how to use positivity tools and techniques to help you develop a positivity mindset. It doesn’t mean that your life will be perfect, no one’s is. However, when you have a positivity mindset you are more resilient and better able to bounce back from hardship and find joy in life (even through challenges).
So how can you gain a Positivity Mindset? Through doing simple, daily happiness habits. Twice a week on our Positivity Life blog, we’ll be posting simple, easy to do, happiness habits and positivity tools to help you develop a positivity mindset. If you practice these new tools and make them a habit, you’ll discover a higher degree of happiness in any given situation, as well as improved mental and physical wellness (this is backed by scientific studies in positive psychology).
